4 Tips for Turning a Dorm Room into a Girlfriend-Friendly Space

You may be ready for a relationship, but is your space girlfriend ready for real?! And no, you don’t really need to remodel it to make it decent. All it takes is keeping it clean and decently organised, and with just a few tips and tricks, you can make it look good without even trying that hard.

Clean It by All Means

The first, simplest and most essential thing you should do is to clean your space by all means. Most guys don’t think it’s important, but once you have a girl, it is mandatory, in fact! Girls love neat and organised things, and if your space has socks under the bed, or glasses and cups all over it, it triggers an alert. It can leave a bad impression and make her want to leave the place immediately.

And cleaning the space is super easy, in fact. All it takes is not leaving stuff everywhere, vacuuming, and wiping dust from the TV, table, and nightstand at least once a week. Keeping everything in place won’t only save you a lot of time, but it’ll also keep your space girlfriend-ready anytime she wants to crush over.

A Bigger Mattress Is Better

While standard single mattresses and beds are a good start, having a bigger one, at least a double mattress, is always better. When compared to a single, a double mattress offers comfort and extra sleeping space, which is great, especially in those times when your girlfriend decides to come over.

A double bed mattress is wider, giving you extra space for stretching, making it the perfect option for restless sleepers and students as well. But most of all, this bed gives you and your girlfriend enough space to sleep without feeling cramped. Plus, this size of bed can also serve you well through the years, until you move to a bigger apartment and have a bigger bed.

When searching for the right one, make sure to consider the room’s size, though. There should be enough room for your desk/table and chair, and free space to move around the bed. Regarding the mattress itself, choose one that’s comfortable, breathable, and thicker. Nowadays, you can easily find such a mattress thanks to the huge competition and great sales, especially for students. With so many options available, you can certainly find a decent mattress that can serve its purpose for a pretty reasonable price. 

Ideally, you should browse through the many stores, compare different or the same products in terms of type, features and price, read reviews and then make the right choice. This might seem like a lot of work to do; however, it’ll pay off, as this will prevent you from choosing a stiff or too springy and squeaky mattress, and you certainly don’t want one like that, right?! 

Once you have made the right choice about the mattress, it’s time to choose the right bedding. No matter how soft and comfy the mattress is, the bedding also matters for having a good night’s sleep. So aside from choosing the right design and colour, make sure to choose one that can complement the mattress’s comfort. Just pick one made from natural materials like cotton or a bamboo-cotton combo and enjoy the overall comfort together.

Get Rid of Bad Odours

Girls love tidy and organised boys, so make sure that your place always looks like this. And one of the things you need to do is to remove bad odour from it. Start by taking out the trash and removing and wash any dishes with food and cups with coffee or other drinks. But make sure to make it a daily habit, instead of just when she comes over. Doing this will make everything easier, plus she would see it as a great attribute of yours. 

Put away all dirty clothes in a basket with a lid, refresh shoes with sanitised spray and open the windows for fresh air to get in regularly. Adding a bouquet of native Australian flowers on the table won’t only improve the space’s appearance, but it can also help improve the air in it. And last but not least, place an aroma diffuser somewhere in the room for a nice glow and improved smell.

Create a Permanent Two-Person Space in the Room

Now that you plan on your girlfriend crashing at your place or, even better, living with you, it would be great if you would make it a two-person space. This means that instead of one, you should have two pillows on the bed, you should also add an extra chair by the table and make a space in your wardrobe for some of her stuff. She will be over the moon about this decision, as this is one of the signs that a boy is serious about a girl.
